WoW Mining - Useful Counterpart to Many Professions

December 8th, 2009 by admin | No Comments | Filed in copy playstation games

Mining is a good choice for a primary profession, especially if you are not sure which one to pick. Why? It is a profession that complements a great number of other primary professions, and leveling some of them goes very poorly without mining. Mining goes excellent with Jewelcrafting, Blacksmithing and Engineering. It can also be paired up with another profession of gathering type, such as Herbalism or Skinning, where it does not have any purpose other than amassing your profit. Click here for more on WoW Mining Leveling Guide

Starting to mine?

Novice Miners need to have an access to a few necessary things. First thing is a mining pick which you can purchase at any mining supplies vendor or trade goods vendor, found usually near your mining trainer.

The next thing you will need to find are the veins. Similar to Herbalism, with Mining you have an ability called “Find Minerals”. When “Find Minerals” is activated you will be able to track veins on your minimap (yellow dots). By using an add-on such as Gatherer, you can record locations where you have found certain ores. It would be also possible to store vein locations found by your guild or party members in possession of the same addon.

Rocks, mountain areas and hills are particularly rich in veins. Depending on the area the level when it comes to veins will be higher/lower. Starting zones for all classes only have Copper and Tin ore veins available.

What benefits will I have with Mining?

Mining comes with ability which is called Smelting. With Smelting you can create valuable metal bars from the ore you received while mining. While picking a vein, you will also be able to gather stones, various motes and even some valuable gems. For the best leveling guide click here: Ultimate Guide WoW

How is Mining accompanying other professions

Mining is a very useful profession as it nicely complements several other primary crafting professions. Jewelcrafting, Engineering and Blacksmithing depend greatly on Mining. However, the combination of two primary professions is your choice only but it is always nice to have two professions paired in order to level them up easier. Combo of Mining and Herbalism is said to be really good for making profit since you can just fly around the map and gather herbs and ores.

What are other benefits of Mining?

Mining is a useful and profitable profession and it is also a great profession for all classes that are in a need of extra health, such as Warriors, Paladins or Death Knights. There is a special skill offered with Mining - the Toughness. This skill will give you additional amount of stamina while you are leveling Mining and when you hit 450 in Mining, Toughness will give you 50 stamina (around 500 hit points). Nice bonus for a tank, isn’t it.

Classes that most often decide to pick up Mining professions are Paladins and Warriors. Death Knights, who are the new class in WoW, in most cases choose Mining as well because they too are plate wearers and can spec to be tanks. However, it isn’t only that the plate wearers choose Mining. You can often see Warlocks, Mages and even Rogues and Druids mine since their choice of professions fell on Engineering or Jewelcrafting.
