The first thing you’ll need when you earn cash in Mafia Wars is to upgrade your weaponry, vehicles and technology. You can’t stay fight with baseball bats on the streets infinitely, especially if you like that white Armani 3 piece suit and the double deck yatch for your offshore partying.

The more weapons, equipment and other goodies (usually referred to as loot) you obtain, the higher paying the jobs you can do.

The Semi Automatic Shotgun can be looted in the Soldier Tier by completing the job ‘Fight a Haitian Gang.’

Si-14 Cargo Plane (Cuba)

The Si-14 Cargo Plane is a special loot vehicle in Mafia Wars Cuba. You can get the Si-14 Cargo Plane in the El Padrino Tier by completing the ‘Capture The Airport’ job.

Stab-Proof Vest

The Stab-Proof vest is a loot armor item in Mafia Wars. Where do you get the Stab-Proof Vest? The Stab-Proof Vest can be looted in the Soldier Tier by completing the job ‘Kill a Protected Snitch.’

Street Gang Member (Cuba)

Street Gang Members are a dime a dozen in Cuba, but since they’re a loot item they’re actually even cheaper. You can obtain Street Gang Members in the El Soldado Tier by get the ‘Intimidate The Locals’ job done.

By looting up with these items, you can get bigger and better jobs done faster. Many new players of Mafia Wars find stuck on the early levels since they don’t know how or where to progress with bigger paying jobs and rewards.

If you are focused on doing Mafia Wars jobs, you should know it is the safest and fastest method of leveling.  If safety isn’t a concern, and being hitlisted, iced and/or whacked frequently is part of the fun, you can get leveling fast with fighting and robbing, too.  Jobs won’t earn you a set of trigger-happy avengers the way that fighting and robbery can.

Experience isn’t the only thing you’ll receive from making jobs your primary leveling tool.  Loot drops and cash money come from jobs, as well.  The loot is frequently something that will enable you to equip your growing crew.  It could be a weapon, armor, or a vehicle in the loot drop.  And occasionally the loot drop will have items that let you complete the Mafia Wars collection(s) in that specific job tier.  Since completing jobs is also a terrific way to start your bankroll rollin’ too, it’s jobs that give you a powerful platform for Mafia Wars profile optimization.

Job and tier mastery will also get you those golden skill points.  And that’s key if you need to beef up your profile.  If you’re most focused with leveling, you’ll apply those points toward energy.  If leveling isn’t your main agenda, spreading those skill points into attack and defense and stamina is another choice.

Everyone begins Mafia Wars in the Street Thug job tier.  Every job tier is intended for a given group of Mafia Wars levels.  At level 1 thru 4, Street Thug is the tier.  The top job tier in the NYC venue of Mafia Wars is Boss and it’s for level 100+. These are the jobs for Street Thug Tier (with job ratio): Mugging (1); Corner Store Hold-Up (1); Warehouse Robbery (1); Auto Theft (1.14); Beat Up Rival Gangster (1); Rob A Pimp (1); Collect On A Loan (1).

When you start out, these are your job choices that match your new character’s abilities.  You are working this tier until you master every Street Thug job if you want to earn all the mastery titles for the next tiers. Essentially, your current level and your mastery of the prior tier determines what tier you can work comfortably.  Tiers contain more complex jobs as you go up the tiers.

Each job in Street Thug tier will need to be mastered by you.  Pick one - Auto Theft has the best Mafia Wars job ratio!  You’ll do the Auto Theft job repeatedly to master it.  You can see the progress you’re making in mastery by watching the blue bar fill up as you do the job again and again.  It will gradually fill as you repeat Auto Theft until it is 100% blue and you’ve finished mastery of that job.  Once you’ve mastered the given job, you’ll receive a skill point.

When you’ve got every job in the tier mastered, you’ll have completed the first mastery cycle for that tier.  You get another skill point and a new title for your character.  You are now “Street Thug YourMWName.”

Don’t imagine that you’re [finished with those jobs|put all the jobs out of your mind] once you’ve mastered a tier!  There are certain jobs that have especially desirable loot drops, ratios, and money.  Certain jobs are worth doing even when you’ve passed the level and/or mastered the tier.  Street Thug tier isn’t really packed with the sexy job yields, but if you want the .22 pistol or 9mm semi, or one of the Diamond cards for a collection, you’ll only find them in this tier’s loot!

If you take the trouble to master every job in the tier for a second go round, you’ll get the 2nd cycle of mastery for Street Thug.  The reward for your mastery is 8 more skill points to distribute, a “Skilled Street Thug” title, and a five percent increase in the loot drop for jobs in the thug tier.

Bite the bullet and master each job for the 3rd time and you’ll receive additional skill points and the top title for the tier, “Master Street Thug Don Default.”  You’ll also receive ten percent extra loot in the Street thug tier.  And the real icing – you earn 5% experience bonus for any Street Thug job you do thereafter.

You’ll also get the bonus item for triple tier mastery.  In Street Thug tier, you get a Pistol Bayonet that raises the injury you dish out in a Mafia Wars fight by 4%.  Each tier has a different mastery bonus item and they are typically WORTH getting.

Here’s a interesting fact:: If you master every New York job tiers, you’ll earn 219 Mafia Wars skill points.  Smokin’ hot!
