If you are creating a short film about a loved one or producing a short one for your film requirement in class, digital movie making is not only a trend but is a major part of the film industry.

A filmmaking trainee or a professional film director would know what has to be checked when creating films. The following are basic tips that both types of filmmakers can use:

The Equipment

Digital film technology has reached the stage of advancement wherein even those who have no knowledge at all about it or filmmaking per se can come up with professional-appearing videos and short films about family and friends.. The reason for this is the user-friendly equipment used in the process. However, you should be able to pick one that suits all your needs and varying uses.

You should be aware that the digital video camcorders have different formats. The MiniDVs would film on small tapes while those video cameras record on HDD or High Disk Drive. DVD camcorders meanwhile record videos straight on discs that can be watched on DVD players.

If you are to use it for short films of family gatherings, the MiniDV is the more suitable since it is handy and user-friendly. The other kinds of cameras also have advantages of their own. Video cameras make it easy for you to share your work with others. This is  agood choice for thhose who are studying filmmaking and have to share their work to a group. DVD camcorders have the edge when it comes to storage which makes it a great choice for those who are filming full-length movies or professional ones.

You must also have the video editing software but you need not worry as they come built-in with today’s desktop PCs and laptops.

The Angles and Shoots

For you to have professional shots, you have to consider the four aspects: lighting and exposure, audio, stability, and also editing. Digital video camcorders don’t work quite well in an environment with a wide range of lighting. Always take into consideration that lighting should be uniform.

For stability, especially for the small cams, always use a tripod when filming or use a digital stabilizer if you have one. Bear in mind that a slight movement in the cam can ruin the entire scene.

Any camcorder contains basic audio devices in it. In order for you to have better sound quality, you can place a boom microphone on the audio input port and place it nearer to the subjects when filming.

When editing, it’s best to be away from too many effects; be simple for you not to appear as an amateur.

Being Successful In The Film Industry Through The Film School Online

August 7th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in copy dvds

If you feel that you have the knack to make it to Hollywood, you can grab your camera, get online and enroll in a film school online. Of course you must have heard about the stories of people who started with nothing at all and slowly eked their way in through enrolling in a film school and finally making it big in the film industry.

But, the drawback in having to enroll in an actual film school is that it is time consuming and can be very very costly as well. So the best alternative would be to enroll in film schools online. What’s great about these online film schools is that you can study and hone your talent and skills at your own pace. A number of these film school aficionados have their day time jobs and they would find it hard to enroll in a traditional class since they need to give up their regular jobs. Being able to study at your own schedule and without any interference from your job is the best set-up for a lot of people who need to be working still while they finish their studies on filmmaking. A number of these online schools base their learning aptitude on the product but not under a pressured timeline. So the student may enjoy the luxury of time to complete the film course online. Normally, a student can access lectures and modules until two years from enrollment. And after the completion of a designated number of modules, the student will be given his or her own personalized course completion certificate.

Plus, since the online film schools are more of a project based program than time based, each student has his or her own customized curriculum, depending on the time you log in and the time you finish each learning session.

And these film schools online can help you learn whatever film interest you have, from the commercial video production to fictional filmmaking or documentary recording and even music video production. In general, online film courses are divided into modules and each module discusses a specific field of filmmaking, and at the end of each module, the student will be given a required assignment to complete which will enhance his newly acquired skills and give him room to experiment on the skills.

After you submit your work, it will be analyzed for assessment and the great thing about is that you would also be able to view the other students’ work and get queues from them as well, and read the teacher’s feedback, a great learning process.

Do You Need A Filmmaking School?

July 13th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in copy dvds

The only possible reason for people to think that they don’t need a filmmaking school is when they take this only as a past-time.  The truth of the matter is that movie making is not a hobby that you just work on during free time. It requires more than just interest that fades and seeks for perfection in the craft just as any other profession. Therefore, itis significant that these schools would operate so that individuals with talent in film creation would have venues to train and develop their craft. After all, film creation is not merely just an art. After nearly a century of evolving, it has reached the level of becoming a science.

Unlike the impression of the academe though, a filmmaking school is less formal and is often more fun.  Usually the academic institution would require that a student should absorb not only principles but also other pertinent information that relates to his course.  The filmmaking school doesn’t have this concept. Instead of feeding a lot of information and lots of theories on the student, it merely whets his interest for knowledge on the craft and instead draws out more of his imagination. Thus, these schools induce the students to come out with more artistic ideas instead of absorbing information.

It is for this reason that teachers in a filmmaking school should not just be able to spoon-feed their students with their ideas.  Instead they must be able to encourage their students to be unique with their imagination. In fact, they have to be sure that the concepts and ideas that are formed are not only limited to what’s conventional knowing well that the evolution of the cinema world is highly dependent on the innovative and unique imagery of film creators. They are not simply teachers but coaches and counsels who treat their students with encouragement instead of restriction.

If you are keen in enhancing your film-making skills, you are certainly having advantages by enrolling in a filmmaking school. Luckily, you really don’t have to go to a real campus and spend many hours inside the confines of a boring classroom. The Internet allows you to complete an entire course in film creation right at the comforts of your own home. Of course, this does not mean that you can be less serious about the course. If you are truly interested in it, you will try to be disciplined in following the schedules and complying with curricular requirements. This would not be too hard for someone who loves making films.  You may not even think of the sessions as routines you can’t escape from but as fun learning moments as well. You may also consider the films you are tasked to create as opportunities to develop your craft.

Reasons To Enroll In A Film Production School

June 30th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in copy dvds

The United States can boast about the many things that are produced by the industrial sector that are exported to many countries in the world.  However, one of its most lucrative exports is not a product of any of its many manufacturing plants. A lot of these instead are from Hollywood where you can find the most advanced film production facilities in the world.  Indeed, America’s film production’s contribution the country’s economy is undeniable. Like any field of business, you can find training grounds here for all those who aspire to be part of the industry. Hollywood would not have been a success if not for any film production school that you can find.

You can truly be a part of this booming business.  There are primarily two reasons why you intend to become a film producer, actor, or director.  First thing is that it is a good means to express yourself as an artist. Film-making is and if you have talent for it, you can’t develop it on your own without having to sit on a director’s chair or to produce a movie of your own. The other and rather practical reason is the good money that goes with it.  However, all these cannot be achieved without theoretical and practical education. That is why it is necessary for you to enroll in a film production school.

A film production school can provide you with the training that you need for you to succeed in this industry.  There may be other more formal academic courses on film-making, such as those in the universities. However, these commonly offer many subjects that may be irrelevant to film production. As a result, these can take longer to complete which means that you need more money to spend. On the other hand, the school that specifically focuses on teaching the finer details of film production usually provide shorter courses and on the rather practical side of it. Consequently, the timeframe for the completion of a film production course here is much shorter.

Despite the short timeframe for the courses it offers though, you can expect a film production school to equip you with the most useful and most important theoretical and practical tools of the film-making and production trade.  Students are often regarded as being movie producers. Thus, you will learn how to turn ideas into realities and stories into actual footages.   You will learn how to come up with great scripts, accomplish talent searches, and come up with a plan that includes financial aspects and different work schedules. On the part of post-production, you will learn how to market and distribute films.  These are not only classroom teachings though since you will be asked to produce a film of your own for you to be able to graduate.

Getting Film Production Jobs

June 29th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in copy dvds

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to be an actor for you to land a role in a movie.  After all, acting is only one of the aspects needed to complete a film. There could be a talented cast for a certain film but it can never be made if there are no people to take care of the sets, write the script, direct the movie, hold the cameras or raise funds for it. Even those actors who are famous and award winning cannot simply shrug off the importance of those who have film production jobs.  Actors simply act but it the whole crew who are working behind the camera that capture the action and turn it into a film.

Thus, if you want to carve out a career in the movie industry and just don’t have the knack for acting then you can certainly specialize in either one or two film production jobs. You may not see yourself in silver screen but you can have your name listed when credits are shown. And of course it’s not just seeing your name there, your bank account can grow with the promise of high pay. However, it requires careful preparation before you end up having a job in film production. You don’t have to attend a formal school cause there are a lot of online training courses in the Internet.

Before you have yourself enrolled in an online course, it’s significant that you figure out first what aspect of filmmaking you would like to specialize on.  Most individuals will prefer to immediately try their hand in directing, which is why they will enroll in course related to it.  If you want a shorter route, you can do the same thing.  After all, everything that you are to learn in a film directing course is sort of a preview for all the other film production jobs there are.

As soon as you complete the course, you should not expect to sit in a director’s chair too soon.  Even the top-rated directors had to go through all the other film production jobs at first. Some started being cameramen, video editors, writers first before they ended up being directors.  This can also be your path to take too. This is another necessary stage of learning, one that will finally prepare you to take the helm in the production of a movie.

Filmmaking For The Kids

June 26th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in copy dvds

It’s better to start them at a young age. Many people who start young in their interest excel in their field. Let’s take as an example, Tiger Woods who achieved a lot at a tender age and still continues to break records that have been produced by people who are older than when Tiger seared them. Tennis stars are now getting more younger. Artistic tendencies must also be enhanced even at the most tender age possible. Take for example Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart who begun to compose his music at a very tender age of 5. Painters notice their artistic prowess at a tender age and it would be such a huge boost forthe enhancement and development of their talent and skills if they are motivated to learn and paint more. Singers with wonderful voices started as talented young artists. Michael Jackson started at the age of five and catapulted to being the most popular solo artist in the new century.

If you notice that your kids have this inclination to films and making them, it would do no harm to them if you let them start young. There are many articles and sites that can truly help the, in that endeavor. Movie making for kids can be very fun, especially if they start learning the basics. And the first step to take is to know the materials that you need to help make your children the next Steven Spielberg or Cohen Brothers.

So what are those accessories that are needed for your kids to begin in filmmaking? Of course, first off, you need a camcorder. Being that the first recording your child would do is not that serious, the old working camcorder will do. It isn’t yet time to invest in more serious, high-priced better-pixeled video cams. Now the camcorder bag is also a significant tool. Since your kid is still a trainee, protection of the camcorder should come in second to recording videos. The camcorder bag does not only protect the recorder form jolts and bumps but also from bad weather. Always remember that the child will be experimenting on almost all things to record and that means  going out of the house. It would be such a pity if your child finished a short film and find out that the whole thing was ruined by the rain. Use a simple bag. Try not to make use of those designer bags that have logos in them since they would magnet robbers.

One more thing you have to think of is extra power. An adapter would be able to help you to charge your camera battery wherever you go and it would be a good help to motivate your child’s interests.

I Would Love To Sit In One Of These

March 16th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in copy dvds

Sure we can go out and drive contract hire cars but what if we could drive or even ride in one of these vehicles, wouldn’t it be the experience of a lifetime?

v

it is actually still possible to get in one of these cars and drive it around although I am not sure you are going to be able to travel in time. This is the main reason that this car is one of the most sought after cars ever. There are only around 4500 of these left in the world that work, I would surely love to have one of them.

Hogwarts Express

This is on the list simply because if you are riding on the express it means you are on your way to Hogwarts! The only downside is that you have to be a wizard to be invited to the school. The vehicle is one of the most iconic when it comes to the Harry Potter series along with a broomstick and of course the flying car from the chamber of secrets.

Batmobile

the reason that this one is on the list is because there are essentially many cars in one here, there have been so many variations. I would personally love to drive the original from the series because it would be a nostalgic thing for me but id certainly settle for the D    ark Knight one.

I really do wish that I had the money to be able to drive one of these, it would be pretty awesome. I was luckily enough to see the DeLorean from Back To The Future, well one of them in Universal Studios Florida a few years ago but it has since moved on when the Simpsons ride kicked in. Damn you Simpsons!

If your driving is as bad as Batman’s look out for bad credit car leasing and gap insurance.

The Film Download Experience

March 9th, 2010 by admin | No Comments | Filed in copy dvds

It was sometime in the 1980’s when we were first able to watch movies at home.  Previous to that the only way we could see any movies was to get in the car and go to the theater.  In time a few of the movies would come on TV but of course, then they were changed to contain commercials and any primetime presentation limitations.

Then in the 1980’s the original videos came out and we were at long last able to watch movies in the coziness of our own homes.  However, in the beginning as a rule people did not possess their own VCR’s and you had to rent a great big piece of equipment along with your video if you wanted to watch at home.  It replaced going to the theater but it wasn’t any more handy.

Wow, how the times have changed!  The options to observe movies at home are now infinite as the most suitable resolution thus far is downloading movies right to you own computer, anytime of the day and any motion picture that you want. Pretty wonderful when you consider that just over 25 years ago we weren’t able to watch movies at home at all.

For a minimal subscription charge you can now get limitless and unrestricted access to thousands of movies.  In just the few minutes that it takes to download you can virtually immediately watch whatever motion picture you want.  You can use your computer monitor as the motion picture screen or you can also transfer the movie to a compact disk so you can watch it on your TV.

There are a a small number of sites out there that claim that you can download the movies for free of charge.  Be advised that this is not authorized and if they are actually doing it for free then there is some hitch.   You are putting yourself at peril for computer viruses, adware and malware.  It is not practical to think that someone would just give away film downloads for free of charge.  There are also copyright laws and other legal constraints that dependable sites must comply with.  Therefore do not be fooled by the sites that offer movie downloads for free.

When you download a motion picture on your computer it will take up space on your hard drive.  If you have a concern about this you may want to transfer the movie to a disc right away so that you can delete it from your computer to save your space. It depends on how much space you have and what you use it for.

Downloading movies is very helpful in that you can each time obtain the show you want any time of the day or night.  Of course, there are no late fees and for pure convenience downloading can’t be beat.  No more video stores, no more mail in subscriptions.  Downloading movies is the way of the future.

So try it out and see how you like it.  It’s simple.  It’s handy.  You can watch almost any movie you decide and you can do it all anytime and in the solitude of your own residence.  Downloading movies is the best solution we have seen since watching movies at home became doable back in the 1980’s.
