Copy Playstation 1 games?

Does anyone know how to copy PS1 games so the will play on the system? I do have the chip installed on the console that will allow burned games to play. I have rented and copied games and they work. However, when I download the games from sites such as http://akamidown.blogspot.com/2008/03/398-games-playstation-1-ps1.html and burn them…they don't work.
Does it require some patch to be added to the files as well to make it work?
Any input would be useful.

I'd just buy them. They are dirt cheap now, since that was two systems ago..
