But the Xbox 360 provides a more extensive experience in that department, though the PS3 does try very hard to make up for it with a built-in Blu-ray DVD player, WiFi web surfing, and support for Bluetooth wireless devices. To which it should be added that NetFlix on-demand is available through the Xbox 360, probably doing away with all the PS3’s multimedia advantages. But the PS3 is extensively moddable by users with the technical interest, while Microsoft rather discourages such hobbyist tinkering under the hood.

Then there’s the matter of prices, with the PS3 selling more going for than the Xbox 360 on account of its slightly longer list of features. Naturally, if you’re a hard-core gamer, prices are probably not going to be all that big a consideration, because purchasing decisions will often be made based on titles exclusive to each platform. Of course, the really hard-core don’t care about prices at all and would just purchase each one!

Project Natal- The Verdict

When I was watching E3 back in May I was very impressed by what Microsoft had to offer. I was getting a bit bored until my favourite director Spielberg walked onto the stage hinting at a new Microsoft gadget.

MIlo was then showed off to the world by British company Lionhead. Somehow the woman playing this demo was able to hold a normal conversation with the boy through the game. A lot of people have said there is no point to a lot of this but to me it seems like the future of gaming.

You are going to be able to use your whole body within the games of Natal. For example you can hold an invisible steering wheel stepping in and out to accelerate and brake respectively. Anything from golf to penalty shootouts can be more realstic thanks to full body control. This could actually be the future of games altogether not just a fancy wavey wand. To make the games unique to each user, Natal can actually scan real life things so that you can use your own football or golf club.

If this is more than just hype then this is going to be huge. On top of this, at the recent Tokyo game show major developers such as Sega and Capcom have both announced their backing of the hardware and this is on top of all the other major developers which include EA, Activison and of course the expected Microsoft Game Studios.

Launch planned for MW2 set to be massive

The advertising agency that will be responsible for the launch of Modern Warfare 2 expects it to be one of the biggest product launches of all time. TBWA, an advertising agency, very well respected and based in America, has the job of making the MW2 launch as successful as possible. This agency has a lot to live up to after the last game sold well over fourteen million members.

It has games such as Halo 3, Gran theft Auto 4 and GT 5 in its sites and is aiming to a appeal to a large audience outside the realm of normal (already addicted) gamers. The Chief Creative Officer at Activision was quoted as saying, “The strategic objective is not to just run advertising on day one and say ‘Go to a retailer and buy the game,’ but it is to really start building a movement and start broadening the audience for (Modern Warfare 2) beyond a core gamer audience.”

Janco Partners’ Mike Hickey had already said that Activision may not have much to worry about. According to varying sources sales are expected to smash the 11 million mark in the first 2 months, a truly amazing figure considering it the first title managed 14 million in total. he claimed MW2 could actually.It is expected to sell up to eight million units in the first week of sales with an expected value of 0 million dollars.

The promotional campaign has taken months to complete and it is now ready to be implemented. The company is planning to start an aggressive marketing campaign for the title in August, maybe we can expect to see smoke bombs being let of in down town New York or Laser dot sights being waved around in London! Pre-order numbers look set to go through the roof when this campaign gets underway. Sources also report that many rewards and incentives will also be offered to get gamers to plunk down their deposit for Modern Warfare 2 early, whatever happens this game will be massive.
